This Heart is Meant to be Broken
The Fragile Magnet Heart Necklace by Studio Kahn is meant to be broken. Only when you snap it, the delicate chain pours out - you then connect the two halves with the magnet clasp, making a heart shaped pendant.
The FRAGILE collection consists of different ceramic products, from a salt and pepper shaker to jewelry to a menorah. Each product in the collection comes in one piece and becomes usable only after being broken. It was intended to give the user an opportunity to break the rules, since breaking can be an exciting experience of impulsive outburst. In this way, it is an act that builds rather than destroys. The user leaves his mark on the product and gives it its final, unique appearance.
The FRAGILE salt and pepper shaker won the first prize at the Macef and Designboom International Competition "Dinning in 2015" in 2008, and the collection was part of various exhibitions worldwide.
